Compost Awareness Week runs this year from 6th –12th May and this year East Cambs District Council will be at EARTH* at Larkfields Resource Centre, High Barns, Ely on Thursday 10th May from 10am to 3pm to giveaway free soil improver**.
Any residents interested in gardening or learning more about composting are encouraged to bring their own bags and collect some to help improve the condition of their gardens or to use on allotments to grow their own flowers and produce
Composting also helps to reduce the amount of food waste going to landfill, thereby helping the environment.
*EARTH provides horticultural training, work experience and therapy to people with learning and physical disabilities. We are a small independent charity based on land attached to a Day Centre and the adjoining allotments in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Our service users grow plants, herbs and vegetables, and make wildlife boxes and planters, which are sold to the community from the site and at local events. A Team Leader and a group of volunteers support individuals or small groups in a safe and stress-free environment where they enjoy developing new skills and achievements.
You can contact EARTH via our website http://www.earthely.co.uk , by telephone 07900627796 or visit us on site at Larkfield, High Barns, Ely CB7 4SB. We are open on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week.
**Residents will need to bring suitable bags to hold the soil improver.
