Illegal Parking on Back Hill

Please can we have traffic/parking attendants patrolling ForeHill regularly to deal with the increasing amount of illegal parking?
Some days the uphill left side is almost completely lined with cars who apparently need to make emergency visits to the dry cleaners, hairdressers, cobblers and travel agent. This coupled with “take-away emergency” parking on the right hand side is making the road quite dangerous for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
Keeping this area clear would be a big improvement for everyone in Ely.

    Good afternoon,
    The short answer is yes, we shall and do, patrol Forehill in Ely and totally agree with your comments made.
    I drove along there myself recently and upon my return to the Station I asked the very same question to my Officers. I am reliably informed that the majority of these vehicles are Blue badge holders and are therefore exempt from parking enforcement in the majority of the cases. The perception though, from the likes of you and I, without closer inspection, is that drivers are parking illegally.
    We are now recording how many perceived parking offences are in fact Blue badge holders so that we may be able to provide a more accurate response.
    Clearly not all of the vehicles are Blue badge holders and we will continue to carry out traffic enforcement in this area.
